AI at UChicago Now: How Faculty Use AI and How You Can Use PhoenixAI

  • 1. University of Chicago

Description

Learn how UChicago faculty are using AI on campus, based on interviews conducted in May and June 2024 as part of the national research project Making AI Generative for Higher Education. UChicago Library's Web Program Director David Bietila and Digital Scholarship Librarian Taylor Faires, who conducted interviews for the project, will present initial high-level results and take questions.

Then, Kemal Badur, Assistant Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, will give an overview of IT Services' PhoenixAI—which is being made available this fall. PhoenixAI is a local version of ChatGPT designed to provide the UChicago community with a more secure and privacy-focused AI tool that is accessible to all staff, students and faculty.
